St John's Road is a new build 6-unit residential development in a Conservation Area in southwest London spread over floors with a commercial unit across the ground floor.

Our design attempts to tread that delicate balance between being of its time, while also being sympathetic to the character and detailing of the Conservation Area. This sort of thing can be difficult when modern regulations - in particular for things like thermal performance and external amenity space - clash with traditional approaches.

The resultant building, which has now started on site, has ended up a happy marriage of traditional materials, and proportions with contemporary standards and techniques reflected in the detailed design of the 3D printed cornices and precision cast metal balustrading.
